      EBPD will sponsor Youth Police Academy
            The East Brunswick Police Department (EBPD) will hold its fourth annual Youth Police Academy July 6-10. The program is open to youngsters ages 11-14 who reside or attend school in East Brunswick. The weeklong academy will feature activities covering many aspects of police work including patrol and crime-scene investigation.

      Girl Scout to hold knitting classes
            Ambassador Girl Scout Kristen Hansen will conduct adult and teen knitting classes at South River Little House, 12 West George St., beginning June 25 at 7 p.m. Classes will run for 6 weeks.             The South River Historical and Preservation Society will host "South River During the Depression" 7 p.m. June 24 at the South River Museum, 64-66 Main St. Brian Armstrong, president, will present information found in the museum's archives about the Depression.             Animal Rescue Force (ARF), East Brunswick, is sponsoring a pet photo contest for this year's Middlesex County Fair, to be held from Aug. 3-9.             The Spotswood Public Library, 548 Main Street, is sponsoring a summer reading club for children ages 3-13 who are Spotswood Library cardholders. A reading log must be kept for children to be eligible to win weekly prizes and awards at the end of the summer. Logging begins June 22 and ends Aug. 8.

            The United Methodist Church at Milltown is hosting a free vacation bible school at the church, 47 N. Main St. The "SonRock Kids Camp," for ages preschool through sixth-grade graduates, will feature crafts, music and games in a friendly and caring environment.
