Mr. Stearns, 69, of Panama, Ohio, died June 3, 2009, in Cleveland. He had lived in Milltown and East Brunswick before moving to Ohio 30 years ago. Mr. Stearns was a union iron worker in New Jersey and Ohio and had been a Sunday school teacher and deacon trustee at the Assembly of God Church in Metuchen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine (Sparks); a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Denise; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lynnette Kopycinski, and Lorie and John McDermott; two sisters and their husbands, Ruth and Vernon Chipman, and Ann and Lee Dunn; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Assembly of God Church, followed by burial at Clover Leaf Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.
