      Independent Farkas deserves second term

Iam extremely happy that Randy Farkas has chosen to run for Milltown Borough Council as an independent ("Farkas Throws Hat in Ring for November," Sentinel, June 11).

For many years I have felt that this small community would be better served if we modeled ourselves like Spotswood and had council members who do not represent political parties.

As someone who volunteers for things in town, I had the pleasure of meeting Randy. He has tirelessly given of himself as chairman of the Fourth of July Committee and has spent countless hours helping the Joyce Kilmer School eighth-grade class at the Haunted River Walk.

Randy does this not looking for a thank you, not with any political motive. He does it because he cares about people. I may not always agree with all his opinions, but I know he makes his decisions with hours of thought, research and probably many lost hours of sleep.

We need more council members like Randy. I am proud to support him in his endeavor to win a council seat as an independent. I am also proud to have him as a friend.
