The East Brunswick 12-year-old American baseball team came in third place in the Around the Horn Plus skills competition at the American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament in Cooperstown, N.Y. The team had a time of 25.13 seconds with no dropped balls or penalties in the competition in which nine players throw the ball to predetermined positions in the fastest time. The player with the baseball must tag the base and make a throw to the next position. The East Brunswick American team competed against 103 teams. In the competition and came in 3rd place.

The team also came in 42nd place out of 103 in the regular game standings in the weeklong tournament. The boys represented central New Jersey with wins against the Chalfont Rebels from Pennsylvania, the South San Francisco Fog of California, the Orland Park Magic from Illinois and Boss Baseball from Wisconsin. They were defeated by the Hill Country Mustangs of Texas and Carrolton Louisiana Baseball.

The East Brunswick 12-year-old American team includes Matt Bellantoni, Dylan Castillo, Kevin Donovan, Pat Geiger, Tom Lanzano, John McHenry, Tyler McNamara, Michael Ng, Nick Smutko, Ryan Starace, Zach Stary and Bryan Talarico. They are managed by Ed Starace and coached by Dennis Bellantoni, Bill Geiger, Kevin McHenry and Tony Smutko.
