Shoes sought for Afghani children

Stephen O'Leary, a seventh-grade student at Immaculate Conception School, Spotswood, will sponsor an Oct. 17-25 drive to collect shoes and school supplies for needy children in Afghanistan.

The project, inspired by a request posted on www.anysoldier.com by a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan, is part of Stephen's community service activities to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation.

Shoes, boots, sandals, school supplies, crayons, stamps and donations for postage may be dropped off in a box in the foyer of Immaculate Conception Church, Manalapan Road, Spotswood. For more information, call 732-735-0645.
