DOT, Township Council ignoring residents' safety

As a resident of the Renaissance at Monroe adult community on Route 33, Monroe, I am writing about the lack of concern the state Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Monroe Township Council have regarding the safety of the residents who live here.

For more than a year, we have petitioned the DOT to create deceleration and acceleration lanes into and out of our development. The increase in traffic has led to hazardous conditions for drivers, and, in the absence of those lanes, it is almost impossible to enter or leave without large trucks and cars bearing down on us.

During the year there have been fender-benders, and traffic tickets have been issued for crossing the solid line too early to turn into the development.

Are the DOT and the council waiting for a fatality to occur before action is taken?
