Monroe Recreation is seeking volunteers for three Special Sports programs for special-needs athletes:
• Basketball Pals, Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to noon during October and November in the Monroe Recreation Gym.
• Track Stars, 6:45-8 p.m. Mondays at Brookside School, January through June.
• Buddy Ball Baseball, 10:30 a.m. to noon Sundays in April at James Monroe Park.
All the players will be exposed to the rules of the games and the fun of playing on teams. They will learn about good health habits, community involvement, social skill, and positive self-image.
Volunteers are needed for all programs, regardless of experience. Volunteers can work directly with a player, help with planning or clerical, or be spectators and cheer on successes. This is a perfect opportunity to get involved and make a difference in your local community.
For more information, call or email Su Reiser, director of Special Sports, at 732- 792-7827, reiserfamily6nj@aol.com, or at Monroe Recreation, 732-723-5000.
