Sullivan chooses Rutgers University
Andy Sullivan, Monroe Township High School's ace pitcher and one of the best in the state, has signed a letter of intent to attend Rutgers University after he graduates in June.
The senior had received offers from Maryland, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Wake Forest, Boston College and Baylor, but decided on playing for the Scarlet Knights, a decision he reached Sept. 1.
"It really got down to the interest Rutgers showed in Andy," his father Jack said from the family's home Tuesday. "Coach Fred Hill came to see him play when he was pitching last spring for Monroe and when Andy was part of an all-star team that played in Georgia."
Sullivan's father also indicated that Rutgers' close proximity to where the family lives factored into the decision.
Sullivan, who is 6-3, 220 pounds, has also participated in a number of tryouts with major league clubs and could be drafted next June.
