Pysanky workshop planned for March 20
The Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission and the Folklife Program for New Jersey will sponsor Pysanky: A TraditionalUkrainian Egg-DecoratingWorkshop 10 a.m.-noon and 1:30-3:30 p.m. March 20 at East Jersey Olde Towne Village, 1050 River Road, Piscataway. The event, which is suitable for ages 13 and above, will be led by master folk artist Olga Kobryn.
Workshop participants will learn how to design their own traditional Ukrainian Easter egg with an egg-decorating stylus, beeswax, dyes and patterns, which they may take home.
Advance registration is required and involves a phone call to 732-745-4489 and payment of a nonrefundable $14 materials fee. Checks should be made payable to County of Middlesex/Cultural and Heritage and mailed to or dropped off at the commission’s office, 703 Jersey Ave., New Brunswick, NJ 08901. Reservations will not be complete until payment is received. Space is limited.
