Nine students from the Force One Competition Team, which trains at Fastkix Taekwondo in Spotswood, traveled with their instructor, Kevin Balon, and team coach, Charles Ferrone, to compete with over 2,000 athletes from across the country in the 2010 AAU Taekwondo National Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. This year, team Force One won 13 national medals as they competed against athletes from schools across the nation. They were awarded the following: Gabriel Basalatan, gold, bronze; Susan Batko, gold, two silvers; Nicholas Carbley, fifth place; Ian Basalatan, honorable mention; Charles Ferrone, silver; Savannah Grey, gold, silver; Gregory Peluso, gold, silver, bronze; Lawrence Portnoy, silver; and Gustavo Singares, bronze.
