Childhood obesity to be topic of seminar

A presentation titled “Childhood Obesity in America: What Kids, Parents and Communities Can Do To Help Prevent It” is planned for 7 p.m. July 29 at the First Reformed Church, 40 Thomas St., South River.

Topics will include obesity issues, getting active, snack makeovers and healthy snacks. Participants will have an opportunity to sample healthy snacks and to take home the recipes to try with their families.

The event is a Girl Scout Gold Award presentation, offered in conjunction with the First Reformed Church of South River.

Admission is free of charge; however, registration is requested to help ensure that all participants will be able to sample all snacks. The public is invited to attend.
