Musical to raise funds for Daisy Association

The East Brunswick Young Adult Charity Players (EBYACP) will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a production of “The Stars of Sunset Studios,” an original musical revue based on musical-theatre standards and top-40 songs, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6 and 7 and 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at the East Brunswick Cultural Arts Center, 210 Dunhams Corner Road. All proceeds will go to Camp Daisy, and to the Daisy Parents Association, East Brunswick, a fund that supports young people with physical and mental disabilities.

Writer/director Phil Solomon has written a revue that takes place on the set of a fictional teen television variety show and tells the story of six up-and-coming actors and their journey to stardom, as they endure successes and heartbreak and learn the importance of teamwork. The show features the music of Michael BublĂ©, Kanye West, Rihanna, Demi Lovato, The Veronicas, Adele, Journey, “Disney’s High School Musical” and more.

Tickets cost $12 each and may be purchased at the door.

EBYACP, which has approximately 50 cast and crew members ranging in age from 12- 24, is a nonprofit organization made up of young people whose mission is to provide entertaining theatrical productions to raise money for the Daisy Parents Association. Over the past 10 years, EBYACP has raised more than $40,000 for its cause through car washes, bake sales, Dining-To-Donate programs and show-ticket sales. This year, in celebration of its tenth anniversary, the EBYACP has set a goal to raise $10,000.
