Police charge man with crashing car into E. Bruns. trailer home

EAST BRUNSWICK — Police said a Staten Island man who was later charged with driving while intoxicated intentionally drove his car into a trailer home last week.

Police responded to Steve’s Trailer Park on Route 18 at 5:30 p.m. July 21 for a report that a vehicle crashed into one of the units. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unoccupied vehicle that had heavy frontend damage after striking the trailer home, according to East Brunswick Police Capt. William Krause Jr.

With help from witnesses, Patrolmen Wade Gordon and Paul Jun located the suspected driver, Robert Glogocheski, 28, near another trailer home. Police said Glogocheski had an apparent injury to his hand, and upon investigating, police determined that he allegedly had driven his vehicle into the trailer home intentionally.

A 94-year-old woman who resided in the trailer was home at the time, but was not injured, Krause said. Police did not know the reason why the man allegedly drove his car into the trailer, but said that is under investigation.

“We believe that the suspect may know the individual, as there is some information that the suspect may stay at one of the trailers in the area from time to time,” Krause said. “However, this has not been confirmed yet and is still under investigation. His reasons for doing this aren’t completely clear yet.”

The trailer that was struck was determined by township officials to be unsafe for habitation due to extensive damage. In addition, police said the vehicle struck a second trailer unit. The owner of the second trailer was not home at the time of the incident, and the extent of damage was unclear.

Police called for medical aid for Glogocheski, and he was placed under arrest and transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, for treatment. Glogocheski was later transported to police headquarters and processed on charges of criminal mischief, DWI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident. He was then transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, with bail set at $2,500.
