Family field day to wrap up ’60s toy exhibit On behalf of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation’s staff, board and volunteers, I would like to sincerely thank Greater Media Newspapers and writers Patricia Yoczis and Adele Young for supporting us by publishing the article “Playthings of the Past at N.J. Vietnam Era Museum.”
We have seen a significant increase in visitation since the article was published and heard a great deal of positive feedback from many of your readers. The article featured many great pictures of objects we have on display and really captured the spirit of the exhibit. We are very excited to announce our next event, which will be the last opportunity for visitors to view our exhibit, “Dolls and Toys of the 1960s: A Flashback in Time.” The event, called 1960s Family Day, will take place Saturday, Aug. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event at the Vietnam Era Museum & Educational Center will celebrate the 1960s with family activities related to the time period throughout the day. The event will mimic a 1960s field day. Activities will be indoors and outdoors (weather permitting) and include a three-legged race, relay, egg and spoon race, tug of war, a toy table, bead making, tissue paper flowers, coloring sheets, and 1960s movies and music. This is the perfect opportunity to bring children and grandchildren to the museum to learn about history while having a lot of fun. We hope to see a lot of familiar faces and many new ones on Aug. 21. For more information please call 732-335-0033 or visit our website at www.njvvmf.org. Regular admission to the Educational Center applies: adults $5; students and senior citizens $3; and children under 10 free. Regular admission is free for veterans and active duty military personnel. The Vietnam Era Museum & Educational Center is adjacent to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial off the Garden State Parkway at Exit 116. The Vietnam Era & Educational Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Kathleen Henry Coordinator of Education Initiatives & Resources New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’Memorial Foundation Vietnam Era Museum and Educational Center Holmdel |
