District accepting preschool requests
The East Brunswick School District offers a general-education inclusive preschool program, housed at Irwin, Lawrence Brook and Memorial schools and open to 3- and 4- year-old children who live in East Brunswick. Youngsters must be 3 years old by Oct. 31, 2012, and not age eligible for kindergarten (5 years old by Oct. 31, 2012). Children must be toilet-trained to attend.
Classes are taught by certified teachers and supported with paraprofessional aides. The program, which provides an inclusive educational environment for preschool children, is aligned with the New Jersey Department of Education’s Preschool Teaching and Learning Expectations.
Typically developing and special-needs children are included in the program. Classes are available for 2 1/2 hours each day and follow the 10-month school calendar. Morning and afternoon sessions are offered.
Tuition is $300 per month and is not assessed for families eligible for free and reduced price lunch. Information on eligibility for free and reduced-cost lunch is available on the district website at www.ebnet.org/Preschool. Transportation for the program is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
Applications, which may be downloaded from www.ebnet.org, should be completed and sent toAssistant Superintendent of Student Activities/Services, East Brunswick Public Schools, 760 Route 18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816; information and forms also are available at the same address. All applications must be received by March 9.
