Mr. Kent, 77, of Monroe, died Feb. 1, 2012, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his first wife, Diane Nurneerger Kent. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude S. Shatz Kent; two daughters, Karen Brittan, and her husband, Kenneth, of Davie, Fla., and Annmarie Smith, and her husband, David, of Deep River, Conn.; four sons, Joseph Kent of Maryland, John Kent, and his wife, Patricia, and James Kent, all of Norfolk, Va., and Edward Kent, and his wife, Nicole, of Clinton, Conn.; three sisters, Patricia Klvana of Queens, N.Y., Catherine McAuliff of Tulsa, Okla., and Jane Christofileas of Monroe; 15 grandchildren; one stepson, Joseph Venezian, and his wife, Linda, of North Brunswick; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at Nativity of Our Lord Church, Monroe. Interment was in West Cemetery, Madison, Conn. Arrangements were under the direction of M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Monroe.
